Fei XIE’s presentation will provide aspects of actions and practices on biodiversity conservation in the area of the Yangtze River economic belt. The Yangtze zone is the most important area in China in terms of economy, society, environment and culture. The focus on actions and practices will include what and how the central and local governments request enterprises, including mining and mine-related enterprises, to do.
This is a joint webinar organised by the Swedish (SBF), and Finnish Associations of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers (VMY).
About the Speaker
Mr. XIE Fei is, former Chief Advisor, and one of key founders of China Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Fund and China Public Private Partnerships (PPP) Centre, Ministry of Finance (MOF), China. Fei worked in the Ministry of Environmental Protection from 1996-2007, Ministry of Finance from 2007-2024, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) from 2001-2002, and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) from 2019-2020.
He has been engaged in policy study, project development and implementation, international affairs pertaining to Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) on climate change, biodiversity, ozone layer protection, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and international waters, and on sustainable development, infrastructure development and financing (regarding green development, climate, and biodiversity).
Fei XIE participated in the Council Meetings of Global Environment Facility (GEF 22-33), UNFCCC (COP16 and 27), and was involved in the agendas on climate change, SDGs, quality infrastructure development, private participation in infrastructure in G20, BRICS, APEC and ASEAN+3 on behalf of China. Fei XIE’s current focus is on biodiversity in China, infrastructure development and financing for greening and climate change.
Fei has a rich track record of cooperation with the World Bank, ADB, UNDP and UNEP, and cooperated with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency in late 1990s. Fei XIE holds bachelor and master degrees from the Peking University (1981-1988).
