A warm welcome to a “Bergsmansafton”, featuring Pertti Lamberg, Sakatti Project Manager and CEO of AA Sakatti Mining Oy which is an Anglo American's Finnish subsidiary operating in Sodankylä, Finland. In his presentation, Pertti will talk about the development of Sakatti project, a significant discovery of copper-nickel-platinum group elements, towards construction and production.

Anglo American’s Sakatti Project is a major underground copper and polymetallic deposit being developed in Finnish Lapland, about 15 km north of Sodankylä. Expected to begin operations in the early 2030s, the mine will produce critical green-transition metals including copper, nickel, cobalt, platinum group elements, gold, and silver.

AA Sakatti Mining Oy is the Finnish subsidiary of Anglo American. Over 100 years in operation, Anglo American is one of the largest mining companies in the world. The company employs approximately 64,000 people across the world and its diverse global mining operations produce raw materials for the growing markets of developed and maturing economies.

This is a joint webinar organised by the Swedish (SBF), and Finnish Associations of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers (VMY).

BIO:
Pertti Lamberg is since 2020 acting as Sakatti Project Manager and CEO of AA Sakatti Mining Oy. Pertti is a geologist, researcher and leader with with an extensive experience in the mining industry. He served as the CEO of mining company Keliber Oy since 2016. His previous work history includes working as a Professor of Geometallurgy at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden and a long career in research and product development at Outokumpu and Outotec. Lamberg is a geologist by education and has a Ph.D. from the University of Turku.
