During this session, Rutger will share his insights and perspectives on direct reduction and its potential role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the steel industry. With several new process routes being proposed, investors must evaluate which technologies represent the “winning horse” under prevailing local conditions. Key considerations include resource availability, profitability, and technology readiness levels.

About the speaker:
Rutger Gyllenram is a metallurgical engineer (Bergsingenjör) with an MSc in Process Metallurgy and Materials Science, as well as a Licentiate degree in Metal Production Technology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
In addition to his time as a researcher at KTH, Rutger has built a career as an entrepreneur, working extensively with software development and sustainability issues in the steel industry.
He is the founder and CEO of Kobolde & Partners AB and co-founder of FerroSilva AB.
